The Galapagos Islands sit far out in the Pacific with limited coverage and are not always included, so check the plan details if the islands are on your itinerary.

How much data

A week of maps, messaging and photos is often around 5-10GB, with two weeks nearer 10-20GB, and more for heavy streaming or hotspot use. These are starting points, and actual use varies.

Does an Ecuador eSIM work on the Galapagos Islands?

The Galapagos are remote, with limited coverage, and are not always included in an Ecuador plan. If they are on your itinerary, check that the plan details name them, and expect limited signal once there, with boat trips and tours largely offline.

Will I have signal in the Amazon?

Around the river towns and lodges, sometimes, but deep in the rainforest there is often little or no signal. Download offline maps before you head in and treat time in the Amazon as largely offline.

Will it work in Quito and the Andes?

Yes, the cities and the main Andean towns are well covered. The remote highlands can thin, so keep offline maps for a day exploring.

Are there any calling or app restrictions in Ecuador?

WhatsApp, FaceTime and other data-based apps can use your eSIM data in Ecuador, subject to the app's own availability and any local restrictions.

Can I use ride-hailing as soon as I land?
