Using an eSIM in Cyprus
A Cyprus eSIM keeps you online across the island's south, from the resorts of Ayia Napa, Protaras and Paphos to Limassol and Larnaca. There is one important thing to understand before you travel, though, because the island is divided for mobile coverage.
The south, the north and crossing between them
Coverage is strong across the government-controlled south, the Republic of Cyprus, which is where most eSIM plans work and where EU roaming applies. The north runs on separate networks linked to Turkish operators, and a Cyprus plan usually does not cover it, so if your trip includes Kyrenia, Famagusta or North Nicosia across the Green Line, check that your plan specifically lists Northern Cyprus, or plan for separate coverage there.
Away from the resorts
The coastal resorts and main towns in the south are well covered. Signal can thin in the Troodos Mountains and on the Akamas Peninsula, particularly on the trails and in the small villages, so download offline maps before heading inland.
How much data
A week of maps, messaging and beach photos is often around 5-10GB, with more for heavy streaming or hotspot use. These are starting points, and actual use varies.
