Using an eSIM in Portugal
Portugal is compact and easy to explore, from Lisbon and Porto to the Algarve, and a common question is whether a mainland plan also reaches the Atlantic islands. Mainland and the Atlantic islands
Coverage is strong in Lisbon, Porto and the Algarve resorts. Madeira and the Azores are the part of Portugal travellers most often get caught out by: both are hundreds of miles offshore, and while Madeira is included in many plans, the Azores are more often a separate coverage area. If either island is on your itinerary, treat its inclusion as the thing to confirm in the plan details before you buy.
Choosing your plan
For a Lisbon city break or a week in the Algarve using maps, messaging and normal browsing, around 5–10GB is a sensible starting point. For a longer trip, frequent video uploads or hotspot use, 10–20GB or more gives you more room.
